Kingwood
Yoga Plus studio has a new home and owner. Headed by Laura Webster
and formerly located within Vitamins and Such, Kingwood Yoga Plus
has moved into the lovely Anchors office building on Lakeville
off North Park. Laura is proud to present the only Iyengar yoga
studio in the area with six experienced teachers and diverse classes
covering Gentle, Beginners, Pre-Natal, Mommy & Me, Kids, Teens,
Advanced, Ageless, After-Work, and Open Sessions. To accomodate
the needs of all, classes are offered at various times six days
a week.
Laura's Beginning Asana class on Monday and Wednesday mornings
has a loyal following. Kim Riley's first experience with Kingwood
Yoga Plus has lead to a lifestyle change. Now attending class
twice a week, Kim schedules her busy life around yoga. "Yoga
helps me get through the craziness in my life. I'm a much more
balanced person physically and mentally by being Laura's yoga
student." Crediting her natural talent as a teacher and
individualized attention, Liz Himanga has been a student of
Laura's for over a decade. Liz says she always feels better
after yoga class and it sets the tone for a more productive
day. The welcoming environment and Laura's lighthearted approach
to yoga foster a comfortable and caring forum for learning.
Were it taught by Laura, Liz claims, "I'd even take a class
in tiddly-winks."
Iyengar yoga is a method evolved by BKS Iyengar, one of the
most highly recognized yoga masters in the world. He combines
classical yoga with innovative refinements in a system that
demands precision and alignment while building strength, stamina,
and flexibility. With twenty years of yoga experience, Laura
Webster is at once a warm and gracious guide into the world
of Iyengar yoga and the ultimate example of its benefits. After
suffering a sports-related injury in 1981, she became a student
of yoga, experiencing many different methods. "Iyengar
yoga's alignment, stretching and strengthening helped where
I was weak and injured and balanced my body." An Introductory
Level 2 Iyengar certified instructor, Laura now offers help
for people of all ages and physical conditions.
The exceptional teaching staff at Kingwood Yoga Plus helps
Laura reach a diverse audience. Mikki instructs Seniors in a
gentle program designed to improve flexibility and keep people
young at heart. Margaret Rose teaches Gentle and Beginning classes,
both of which are appropriate for new students. Terry offers
Kids individualized instruction designed to develop confidence
and coordination in a relaxed environment. Amy's Teen class
is challenging, non-competitive and stress-free. Kimberly introduces
her Beginner class in January and currently presides over Open
Sessions. Michele teaches Pre-Natal and Mommy & Me, catering
to the physical challenges of new parenthood.
